Arno and Linda both grew up in rural Reno County and attended the same church and youth group. When they got married in 1988, Arno owned Miller Lawn Care, and they worked together in that business for approximately ten years, eventually selling that to an employee. After working away from home for a number of years, they started thinking about something the family could work at together, and in the spring of 2013 they sold their first frozen meals at the Reno Co farmers market. At first it was a sideline, but in the spring of 2018 Arno quit his day job, and gave his full attention to Miller’s Homestyle Meals.
Some of the day to day tasks they’re involved with are:
Linda decides when items come on/off the menu, figures out what food needs to produced each week and makes the grocery list. She is also the bookkeeper and helps out at market some!
Arno is the main market man! He does the smoking and grilling and fries lots of hamburger and sausage. He also does the grocery shopping and fills orders for our weekly deliveries. He is the guy who restocks the freezers and gets them ready for market.
A few of the things they enjoy most about Miller’s Homestyle Meals are the flexible schedule, working together, and certainly the relationships they have developed with customers! We are grateful for all they do to keep the business running smoothly!
